If you are afraid of yourself, only then are you afraid of other people. If you love yourself, you love others. If you hate yourself, you hate others. Because in relationship with others, it is only you mirrored. The other is nothing but a mirror. So whatsoever happens in relationship, always know it must have happened before, within you — because the relationship can only magnify. It cannot create; it can only show and manifest.

I release attachment to all things: to the physical- to want, the emotional: to need, the spiritual-to be. I release the attachment to my being, this vessel. I surrender to all that is, the One. I surrender to the divine energy that flows through me, through every strand of hair, of dna, of theory, string, every vibration flowing out, chords. Energetic cords. Connecting me to pain from the past. I surrender all the pain and suffering of my soul and the soul of the world. I carry it in my long hair. The wisdom, the knowledge, the experience: good and bad, in the roots of this tree. And one day, I will release this hair into song, chords painting pictures of world history, from follicle to tip, spanning centuries, and all the pain within, all that has never served, the soil of this body tilled, weeded out, cut with all rays of color, making room for flowers planted deep within my heart and soul. It won’t be the end of the world, stripping myself of ego, control, greed, want, need, vanity. It will be a beginning.

this illustration really hits me somewhere in the heart. to me it’s kind of like how we hold on to some things and it’s hard to let go but when we eventually cut them loose.. new things grow. i wish i could put that into a tiny story, i tried but nothing good came out. such a cool drawing.
